Yvette Donnison
Yvette is one of our talented cooks, bringing a fresh energy, creative flair, and a real love of food to the Takapu Charters team. Her background is as diverse and vibrant as the dishes she serves.
Before joining us, Yvette spent four years working in native tree planting and later managed a banana plantation in North Auckland. That connection to the land is still a big part of who she is. She’s studied permaculture and takes a thoughtful, sustainable approach to life — something that comes through in her cooking and the way she connects with others.
Yvette also has a strong creative side. She studied art with the aim of becoming an artist and still paints in her spare time, often inspired by New Zealand’s native flora. But her true passion? Feeding people. For Yvette, food is a love language — a way to care for others and bring people together.
Her experience in catering for festivals and working at the Matakana Market seafood stall means she’s no stranger to high-energy, fast-paced food environments. That experience translates perfectly to life on board, where she creates hearty, wholesome meals that fuel adventure and make guests feel right at home.
Yvette is excited to be part of the team and to share her love of food, the outdoors, and good company with everyone who steps aboard. Join us on a charter and experience Yvette’s warm hospitality and delicious cooking as you explore the stunning Fiordland region!
